Tilly
16.2HH Irish sports horse
Tilly has been with us for a while now. We turned her away for a while as she looked very poor and had very poor feet when she arrived and had a scar on her quarters which she was well aware of. We have gave her time to grow and develop and grow half a new wall on her foot she is looking fantastic now and she certainly has the Irish attitude to life .She has a natural shape over a fence and also has very nice paces as well. We have done load's of hacking to strengthen her as she was very weak and poor she is brilliant in traffic and can be hacked alone as well. Julian has hunted Tilly with the Belvoir and she has really impressed Julian Jumping anything particularly when Julian has been on point and has had some awkward places to jump she really is brave and very forward at whatever she is faced with out hunting..and is ridden in a snaffle, and stands when asked, she is just not to keen on horses getting to close,I think she is scared of being kicked. She is very well bred and has a very good show jumping sire and grand sire. She will be competing in her first BE event on March 10th at Oasby.
Sire: Colonel Clover Dam: Kilbricken Lace Grandsire: Clover Hill

Over the last few months we have been putting alot of work into Tilly as Julian is aiming to compete her in her first BE event at Oasby on March 10th.As i've said before Julian really thinks this mare will excel at eventing. We have waited a long time for this mare to come right and fingers crossed she will prove herself soon. Please take a look at her schooling video at arena uk she was thoroughly enjoying herself.I even had the privilege to have a jump on her and was pleasantly surprised by her maturity and jump I think she is starting to grow on me.Over the next week depending on the weather we will take her cross country schooling will let you know about it with video footage as soon as possible.

Tilly has been hacking all week. Julian took her with the bloodhounds today... this mare needs loads of this, I really donut trust this mare yet she is very nice natured in the stable but can be really green sometimes by leaping, rearing in the air . I dont mind an excited, nervous horse like Frank doing this but she tends to calmly do it out of the blue. Julian just calmly says when she does it that she is just a baby which she is but thank god for Julian as she really needs to grow on me she will be with us for a while yet before she gets my vote...but I have a lot of faith in Julian and if he likes her I know that she will be right...eventually!

Tilly is really looking good now ..We have been hacking and schooling her She can be a bit stuffy in the school so we decided to take Tilly with the Cranwell Bloodhounds to get her going forwards and enjoy going forwards. She really enjoyed her day jumping a few hunt jumps and having a good gallop across the large stubble fields.

As you have probably noticed we have got allot of new horses in.Tilly is doing well and is sound but we have decided to turn her away for a while as a scar on her hindquarters keeps flaring up and seems to be a bit of a mystery to the vet,we have had her scanned but nothing has showed up and there is no foreign body in there. So we have decided to take her shoes off and let her feet grow naturally and let my good friend Kelly use her knowledge and nursing skills to nuture her better.I think with time off, this mare will only improve as she is still very young and does not want an imbalance with her feet , and possibly with pain in her quarters to hinder her way of thinking.I want her to enjoy her work when she is ready. Photo's of her Scar to follow and we will keep you updated.

Sorry I have not kept you informed about Tilly as I have been so busy with Jess. Now jess has sold Tilly will be the main horse I will be working on.
When Tilly arrived at Paddockbarn (1year ago) she was in very poor condition we have gave her time to recuperate and she now looks brilliant but Her near fore hoof was slightly broken down and we had to use a special glue to fill in where the hoof was missing the farrier no longer needs to use this glue but what the vet has advised is that we shoe her hopefully just for a couple of times in an egg bar shoe as she does seem to have times where she goes short in her stride,we are hoping this is just a foot imbalance and with time ane expert shoeing this foot fingers crossed will come right. She is not lame but if she did become lame we would have her nerve blocked to see where the source of pain is,but fingers crossed it should not come to that but I will keep you informed. She is still in full work as advised by the vet.

Tilly is being schooled regular on the flat and hunted once a week.Julian is taking Tilly for a schooling session with John steels (midland equestrian)this week so I will try and take a video. Also Tilly went to her first indoor show yesterday, she has never seen these fences before let alone everything else that was going on and she took it all in her stride. Please take a look at the video at the top of the page.

What a lovely horse Tilly is turning out to be.She has hunted a few times now and it has really switched her on to her work she is usually quite idle to work on the flat and she has transformed, she also feel's alot stronger as well.Julian jumped Tilly out hunting yesterday, she just feel's so powerfull and is so honest their was a few tricky places to jump when Julian was on point and she never questioned him. Also at the meet she stood like a lamb, please look out for the short video.

I have been Hacking Tilly out and taking her for long canter's this week,we even went for a extra long canter the other day when I decided to take my collie with us.I hacked Tilly under a old railway bridge it is more like a tunnel than a bridge she was fine about it but Bill my collie disapproved and ran of back the other way I had to canter for two mile's before he stopped and then I had to lead him back until I could get him through the tunnel Tilly was a little gem unlike Bill!! I have schooled Tilly at home once this week as we feel she needs to see the world a bit more as she is so lazy in the school at home it tends to close her up.I have read an article in a magazine about horses like her, they tend to benefit more by being schooled in wide open spaces to make the schooling more easier for them,it seems to make her more forward thinking when it comes to school work.I suppose it is like children doing homework in a fairground or in my son's case if he could the middle of a dairy farm.(it gets them motivated).
Julian,Emma,Alfie and I took Tilly and Frank for a schooling session at vale view with John please watch the video of Tilly this is her first time over these jumps and she never battered a eyelid, she really is a chilled out 4 year old.

I have been taking Tilly on the school run in the lorry this week and hacking her out through Bottesford apart from a dog running out in the middle of the road and barking(she jumped a little) she was really good even totally unfazed by bin men emptying recycling I have never known a four year to be so laid back.
18/09/10
I have been schooling Tilly this week even though she is very lazy in the school, once she is listening to your leg,she does feel very balanced for a young horse.
12/09/10
We have not done alot with Tilly over the summer holiday's,but she has been hacked three times a week she is absolutely fantastic in traffic nothing bother's her at all, even my friend who is a very nervous rider feel's very comfortable on her.

Tilly has had a course of antibiotic's to help her abscess under her jaw clear up.The poor love she has had a tiny little lump under her jaw since she came, but never mind all is settled now and she is back into full work.Tilly came to us very poor, you would not think it now but she did,I really think that she starting to strengthen and her weak start is now behind her.
31/07/10
Tilly has an abscess under her jaw so she is out of work at the minute. She has had it checked and it is not the dreaded strangles, it is just a thorn or foreign body inside so hopefully she should be back working again soon. She has had a saddle fitted this week because she has muscled up and filled out so much since we bought her.
25/07/10
Tilly has been hacking all week by Emma, she is totally unfazed by heavy traffic. She is having a saddle fitted this week as she is starting to grow out of mine.
17/07/10
Julian,Emma and I have all been hacking Tilly out this week. Her feet were very poor when she arrived so we have been taking our time with her and letting her adapt to her re-balanced feet.
10/07/10
Tilly and myself have had a week off.
05/07/10
Tilly has been hacked and schooled over the past couple of weeks she really is an impressive ride. I can't get over her irish attitude to life, she is so sporty but still so chilled.
21/06/10
Julian has hacked Tilly all weekend, even down are very busy main road on her own. I have schooled her today. She really moves well her canter is just so powerful she is a true sport's horse with an Irish attitude.
19/06/10
Tilly has been schooled a few times this week and hacked. She was a little lazy and not very quick from the leg to start off with in the school, but now she is starting to understand what I mean with my leg, rather than just be nagged along. To hack out she is very chilled out and grown-up.
12/06/10
Tilly has been hacked out the past couple of weeks and she seems to be so straight forward. Julian took her to Vale View last week. In the warm up ring she was a little unsure of horses coming towards her, but apart from that she just took it all in her stride.
03/06/10
Tilly has had a few days off this week as she was a little tender after being shod. She is fine now though and her feet look a lot better, but the poor love has had to adjust to having her feet trimmed gradually, as they were a little out of shape when she came.
28/05/10
I have hacked Tilly out this week. She seems to be very good in traffic. I can't wait to jump her. She really feels powerful. More photo's coming this weekend!!!
24/05/10
Tilly is looking a lot better now compared to when she came. She also had all of her vaccinations last week. I think she is going to be very special, even though, she is weak she really gives you a feeling of a lot of power under you.
16/05/10
Julian took Tilly for a hack with Emma on Flossy they were both very good.
13/05/10
I took Tilly on a hack today, she was very sensible and grown-up.
11/05/10
I worked Tilly in the school today, only for 20 minutes, doing figures of eights and serpentines, just trying to get her to turn from my legs rather than just my hand.
12/05/10
Amanda stone came out to check Tilly's teeth. She still has some adult teeth coming through. She had a baby tooth removed and also a wolf tooth, also she had a good rasping.
15/05/10
Tilly was hacked yesterday. I took her somewhere very quiet as I don't think she has seen a lot of traffic but she was very good and kept nice and calm.
05/03/10 Tilly has arrived.
