Welcome to Paddock Barn -
Sid
17.1hh Registered Irish Draught, 4yrs rising 5 in June

I really do not like writing this but yes... Sid is for sale. I know it's early for him as we like to sell our horses when they are ready to do a job but we have got to cut down on horses as Paddock Barn Services takes up a lot of time now. We now have too many horses in and not enough hours in the day! I wished we had ten acres to turn some horses away for now but we don't so Sid has got to go... even though he's the weakest and youngest of all the crew.

Sire Woodland Boy   Dam Lisiallen Countess

Sid is the most uncomplicated horse I have ever worked with - he's known as the 'Gentle Giant'. He's a big softy with that little twinkle in his eye. I really think he has the qualities to be a Police horse and if he doesn't sell that will be our aim with him for the future.Sid hacks out on busy roads without any problems the only thing he does not like is A Boards. He walks, trots and canters on both reins in the school and will pop a small fence. He finds canter work very easy and finds this gait the easiest. He loads in a horsebox on a daily basis to go hacking and he has now
started his canter work hacking out. Sid would suit a confident novice who has all the time in the world to let this chap mature. He is not a plod, as with time to develop him we could see him having the potential of being a fieldmaster's horse.

Please only genuine callers. He's a quality horse that wants a kind, knowledgable home that won't spoil him too much so that he loses respect or hard on him expecting him to mature too soon before he is ready. In two years time, this horse will stand out in the crowd at hunt meets.

Sid's Diary
Please follow Sidd's diary to get to know him better and see how he's getting on. I will also add videos of him as and when

We do have Sid for sale but if we do not have any interest in him in the next couple of weeks he will be roughed of until the summer.

Sorry to sound so repetitive but Sid needs his hacking to strengthen him up. He was so good with the traffic today in Bottesford. There was a massive annual charity motorbike gathering at the Red Lion pub. Sid was not bothered at all by  the 200 bikes in total passing him, but looked at the tiny blackboard sign outside the pub (maybe he can read and didn't like the menu).

Over the past few months Sid has been hacked. He's so big and weak but what a lovely horse! I take him in the lorry most mornings on school run (my lorry is my car) and hack him around the busy village of Bottesford. He is totally unfazed by any traffic. I must look a right plonker on him as he is so big but I dont care... he is lovely and someone needs to work him!

Already I can't praise this horse enough. He has such a lovely attitude to life. I can't wait to see him plaited up and out hunting! He is weak but with a steady build up to his work, the time the hunting season starts he should be doing a few hours hunting.

Sid has settled in very well. He definitely has the 'Irish attitude' to life. He is hacked daily on our busy main road on his own and is a delight to work with, not phased by traffic at all.

11/04/11 - 22/04/11
Sidd has been lightly worked in the school and went for his first hack from home with Zara. This chap is weak but he really is so unfazed by heavy traffic. Emma also rode Sidd in the school and gave him his first canter. He was absolutely superb and such a gentle giant!

10/04/11
Sidd was bathed and ridden for 10 minutes today in the school.

09/04/11
Sidd arrived from Ireland at 5am today and has spent the rest of the day asleep in his box.
