Jess really has the talent to become an eventer or even to do just pure show jumping ,working hunter classes.she has been brought on slowly and would suit a competitive teenager coming of ponies. She has such a sweet nature and is a very nice horse to own.
I personally would like her to event as she would excel in all three phases but a kind home is just as important no matter what her new owner would like to do. She is also good to hack and would be happy just doing that but she really does have a talent for jumping. Jess is registered with the BS. Please take a look at her diary and videos.

Jess passed a five stage vetting today and she is going to her new mum in the morning. I will miss this little horse so much but I know she is going to be in nice home and give her new mum as much fun as what i have had with her. I really do not enjoy my work on days like this but I know underneath that if I did not do this type of work I would not have met a wonderful horse called Jess. Bye Jess xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Over the past couple of months I have managed to keep Jess in work even though the weather was against us at times also I have limited turnout this time of year so it is really important to keep the horses exercised.
Please take a look at the new videos of me and Jess having a lesson on the flat and the other's are her recent outing's doing showjumping. Her most recent outing was yesterday doing BS. She finished 4th out of a field of 18 and I think their was only 6 clears, we had the last pole down in the jump off which was my fault for not sitting up properly and steadying her a little between the double but never mind we got round and she felt very balanced. My plan with jess over the next couple of week's is to do a couple of dressage outings and then i'm afraid the dreaded day has come when I will be advertising her.

Over the past few week's I have been doing the usual flat schooling, also I have been going to vale view and doing the usual clear round training and I have been going to john for my weekly lessons on the flat/jump. This little mare is getting stronger (muslce/fitter) by the week she is such a tough little cookie. I have also schooled her over Oasby BE course, without any problems.

Jess has had this week off ahe will start work again tomorrow.

I have been hacking Jess out this week and taking her for some nice long canters and jumping puddles, I enjoyed myself that much instead of hacking home I turned around and cantered back the other way she is so good. When I was hacking Jess out on thursday around Bottesford I was hacking down the main street when I got held up by the bin lorry (recycling) I was only two cars away from it which turned out to be a ten minute wait while the men were emptying glass bottles etc, then they tipped the lorries side to empty the rubbish. Jess did not bat an eyelid she is absolutely bombproof in traffic. Yesterday I went for a lesson with John first of all we worked on the flat doing lots of transitions from walk to trot, trot to halt and halt to canter, then riding in canter to halt but riding towards the walls of the school to make my canter to halt transition more efficient using the walls of the school to help Jess understand my aids with ease.Jess and myself are doing are first BSJA competition on thursday at vale view.

The one and only Jess has been doing her usual hacking this week, she is on a diet at the moment as she has put on a few pounds, she never stop's eating!!! I never stop eating, my biggest downfall is lots of cheese and salad cream. Anyway enough about my bad eating habits I took Jess to vale view yesterday,we didn't do allot of jumping as I wanted more help on working her on the flat in canter and getting her to use her hocks more. I was really struggling to get her to bend more through her body on the right rein doing 20m circle and gradually spiraling in and then gradually spiraling out so John got on to help me out,she resisted a little to begin with and was trying to fall out through her shoulder but john managed to get the message across to her and then when I hopped on she felt a different horse it was a nice feeling she really was using herself then I walked her around for a minute then John asked me to try again and she went really well finishing of with a couple of jumps where I could really feel the power in her canter she really is a special little horse.

Jess has been doing the usual hacking and schooling this week.I took her to Vale View yesterday for a jumping lesson with John Steel's we worked on the flat first trotting a 20metre circle then gradually making the circle smaller and trotting slower and then leg yielding out,and then we did the same in canter. This really was making her use her hock's rather than trying to run on her forehand. Then after that we schooled over a single fence in trot, then a parallel, then finished of jumping a course in canter. She was very good.

My lorry is my transport for everything now, so I use it for the school run. I have been taking Jess with me for most of the week. She is so good in traffic. Bottesford is a very busy village. I have been spoiling her this week as there is a little old lady who keeps putting apples on her ten foot wall at the bottom of her garden and when I ride past Jess stops perfectly as I stop and grab them and feed her one, then we carry on with our hack. Yesterday, Jess stopped as we were hacking past her usual apple stop but to her disgust there were no apples on the wall. She wasn't impressed to be asked to walk on without a apple, I will have to stop spoiling her!
Today, I took Jess to an Eventer Trial at Vale View. I took Frank my ex-racer around first who jumped brilliant around the showjumping but napped going into the water, eventually we got through. Then later I took Jess she went really well but I really let her down and took the wrong course what a plonker, never mind, but she would have been the only other horse who had got a clear round. There is a video of her and some photos, please take a look at Photo Kinesis if you can't wait for them, also there are photos of Frank who was on first in the first class (75cm), who is showing his objection to the water. Don't worry, I don't sell horses like this as I don't know where they would end up. Also why would you put up with it when there are nice horses like Jess.

Jess has been hacking and schooling this week. I had a blood test done as I was a little worried that her stomach was looking rather big,but no she is not in foal and I can breathe again,I will just have to stop spoiling her.
I took Jess to Vale View for her first Eventer Trial today she really jumped well apart from the water. There were two small steps to go down into the water, I managed to get her down one but she was not sure about the second step but eventually she went in and finished the course without any hesitation, jumping up and down the steps with confidence as well. Even though we were eliminated I am very pleased with her as all I need to work on is her confidence in water everything else she jumped with ease. Please take a look at the photo's of her. Emma came third on Tom... Well done Emma xxx

I have had a busy week with Jess. First of all, she has been out hacking with the youngsters, then I took her to Arena UK on Wednesday (clear round jumping) and jumped her round a course, (she was brilliant!!!) She did her first dressage competition on Thursday finishing 5th out of ten which was very good for her first attempt and only 5mins to warm up as I was running late, so I think she could have done even better than that, but that was my fault. Then, on Friday afternoon we went cross country schooling which she really enjoyed, but I had to take it steady with her as I had no studs in, but I will make sure I have stud holes put in next time she's shod. Please watch her videos of dressage, jumping and a very short video of cross country.

Personally, I would rather keep Jess and sell Frank my own horse I know that sound's hard, but Jess is just a breath of fresh air compared to Frank my ex-racer, he is a very complex character so that is not an option.
17/07/10
I have hacked Jess out for most of this week. She is just a happy little soul and is so chilled out. If I did not have Frank I seriously would keep this mare as she is so special. I feel that she is now starting to mature a lot more and balance herself, especially in her canter. I have no transport at the moment, but when I do I will start to compete her. Please take a look at the two short videos of her.(sorry we can't make the 2 videos into one as we don't have this option with our computer)..
12/07/10
Jess had some physio today, she just needed some treatment behind her wither, I think in the past she has had a narrow saddle on her but everything else was fine.
10/07/10
Jess has had a holiday this week as I've been washing rugs, cleaning, painting etc. Just having a catch up, she will start work again tomorrow!
05/07/10
Emma and I have been doing a lot of hacking and hill work with Jess trying to strengthen her up.she has been quite a quiet little soul since we have had her,but her personality is starting to shine through, she is the first horse with her head over the door am/pm,she also watches Alfie and Clara playing outside the stables, sometimes we can have up to 10 children playing around outside the horses get so used to it, I think they like the entertainment, the children are taught not to feed the horses and are also taught to respect the horses space,I think this is what makes the horses so settled here as they are treated like horses and the children can be children without the horse feeling intimidated and insecure.
21/06/10
Emma has been hacking Jess this weekend she also took her for a nice steady canter along some open fields. I have schooled her this morning, she is really starting to accept my leg instead of running from it and starting to keep a nice rhythm in her walk and trot.
19/06/10
As well as riding and hacking Jess at home,I am going for weekly lesson's with her so I can make sure she is having the right training, she really does have a natural Jump and hopefully by the spring she will either make a nice little eventer for a young rider or have the ability to Just do pure show jumping or even pure dressage but it would be a shame not to use her Jumping ability.
14/06/10
I have schooled Jess this morning, working her over some poles on the ground, adding strides and shortening. She finds walk to canter easy and also canter to halt is very good and square.
12/06/10
Sorry for the delay I will try to keep you all updated more often!
I didn't go to Dressage last week as it was cancelled, so I took Jess for a jumping lesson instead,it is so interesting riding all of these different horses, you learn so much from each individual one.I have weekly flat and jump lessons on Frank but I thought I would take Jess for a change to make sure I am bringing her on correctly. On the Flat she is a lot stronger, her right canter is the weakest, but that will improve with time. Also we jumped her this little mare can really jump and with a natural shape as well, I think with her ability she will either event or she could just do pure showjumping.
03/06/10
We took Jess to arena Uk (clear round jumping) yesterday. She went really well, she is not phased at all by a show atmosphere at all,but she is still needs time to strengthen up in her canter work, in another six months I really think she will make a brilliant all rounder as she has got it all for dressage and jumping but just needs time to mature.I have entered her for her first dressage competition next week.
28/05/10
Like Oliver I have hacked and schooled Jess this week. She really is starting to muscle up, I will take some more photos of her this weekend. She is also going to vale view tonight.I just want to school her round, so she still listens to me in a show environment like she does at home.
24/05/10
I worked Jess on the flat today, she has a tendency to look very pretty but not actually be working properly, so I worked her through some leg yielding, small circles pushing her out to a large circle, riding squares this helped a lot to help her except my leg and work properly than run away from it.
20/05/10
Emma had a flat lesson on jess today, she went well like Oliver she finds leg yielding very easy, you have just got to watch that she does not run away from the leg but excepts it.
16/05/10
Emma hacked Jess out today.
15/05/10
Emma has been hacking Jess out with Julian the last couple of days. She's is just a sweet little thing.
11/05/10
I have hacked and schooled Jess the last couple of days and she is coming on well, her walk to canter transitions are good and also canter to halt.
06/05/10
Jess has had an easy week as well, but I will ride her today.
01/05/10
Jess has been working really well,It's just a case of strengthening her up as she is still quite green and weak but she is improving all of the time.It just takes time to help these type of horses get stronger without pushing them to quick.
26/04/10
I schooled Jess in my friends menage. Her menage is slightly in view of our turn out field where Floss was calling for her. Also in the fields next to the menage was a couple of horses trotting about, Jess just handles these new situations really well and is totally unfazed what is going on around her.Jess will be attending a pony club jumping rally soon.
25/04/10
I did a lot of hacking with Jess last week. She is a little green hacking out from home, but we do have a very busy main road, so I try to hack her out with Floss to build up her confidence. We also took Jess to a clear round jump training session where she was so good. There was some scary fillers which never fazed her. She just needs to strengthen up a lot in her canter work. Sorry we did not take Jess to pony club as I had such a busy week and was unable to do a night time rally. A video of Friday should be on later today.
18/04/10
We Took Jess to a little show yesterday just to see how she would cope in a show environment. She was fine, warmed up nice and went around the course with confidence apart from that she could see her reflection from the judge's box at the top of the arena where she stopped and stepped over it, as you can see on the video, but apart from that she was fine. We didn't do a very big class as she is so weak in her canter it was more to see how she could cope in this situation than the jumping, as we already know she has a natural jump anyway which will improve with more strength in her canter.
13/04/10
Emma is taking Jess to her first pony club rally a week on Wednesday.
12/04/10
I schooled Jess today she does have a tendency to look pretty in a shape but she really isn't working properly from behind, so I did a lot of canter work with her and that seemed to do the trick I am going to do a lot of hill work with her which i think will help her a lot.
08/04/10
I (Emma) had a lesson on Jess today. At the end of the menage on the other side of the hedge were men in florescent jackets with chainsaws and lawnmowers - the works! She wasn't bothered one bit. We were even leg yielding towards them and she didn't even flinch!!! She worked really well on the flat. Her canter is still weak but she has the most amazing paces. She's really started to stretch out now and I can't wait to do a ode on her! :) I love this horse!
06/04/10
Emma rode Jess on the flat today. Teddy was in the paddock next to them going round the field like a loony but Jess wasn't bothered in the slightest.
03/04/10
Emma hacked Jess today. We don't think she has seen sheep before as she was a little unsure going past them, but she is fine in traffic.
02/04/10
Emma had her lesson today. Jess really is a pleasure to work on the flat,,again, like Flossy she needs to strengthen up but when she is ready I think she will make a nice eventer with natural movement as well.
01/04/10
Jess is being shod today. Emma is going to do a one day event on her in a few weeks, so she is having a flat lesson tomorrow and brushing up on her flatwork skills. I suppose it's a good way to bribe her into doing her flatwork and use those long legs!!!!!
31/03/10
Jess had her flu/tet vaccinations today.
29/03/09
Today I (Emma) rode Jess, aswell as Flossy. Jess has the most amazing paces. I have been hunting Tom all winter so I'm not very up to scratch with my flatwork but I think I'm going to have some lessons on Jess soon. Her canter gives you the most amazing feeling. She is still weak in her canter but when she has strengthen up WOW she will be some horse! I jumped her aswell and one time I got it completely wrong and she just corrected herself. She has a really good jump (better than Frank's [mums horse] in my opinion although I'm not sure if my mum would agree!) She is a lot different from all the other horses I normally ride but I really like her.
27/03/10
I have schooled Jess on the flat this week, she is really a sweet little mare so far, I hope you like her video.
26/03/10
I have worked Jess in the school the last two days, she is very responsive. She just needs to strengthen up. I jumped her as well she really does have a nice jump. I can't wait until she strengthens up she will feel impressive.
23/03/10
Jess had her teeth checked today.
22/03/10
Jess had her back checked today from my physiotherapist. She just needed some treatment similar to Flossy. I think she was a little tight from her journey over.
20/03/10
I (Emma) have the job of updating the diaries today. Today, myself, mum and Clara gave Jess a big tidy up. Her "mop" was a bit scruffy so mum pulled her mane and then we gave her tail a good wash. She was ever so good she just needed a bit of time to get used to the sensation of having her mane pulled. I brought her out of her box and walked her round whilst I waiting for mum to fetch some more hot water and she was excellent with all the toy tractors and things laying around. Mum then lunged her and briefly sat on her but we are waiting until she has had her teeth and back checked so we know she is comfortable before she starts being ridden properly. She is so eye catching, a really pretty mare! We didn't get any pictures because the camera went flat but I'm sure there will be more on by tomorrow night!
Emma x

Jess arrived today. I can't wait to ride her but I am going to wait until her back is checked on Monday and the usual teeth check.
